Mirroring

Accusation in a Mirror, also known as Mirroring, is a propaganda tactic and a form of lying. It is done by simply falsely attributing one's own motives and/or intentions to their adversaries.

Mirroring can be used many ways, such as a stonewalling tactic, by playing the victim, or to hit an exposed flank of an enemy's reputation. It is sometimes deployed in conjunction with sealioning. It is commonly used by gatekeepers, shills and cults.

Here are some common examples of mirroring seen in the wild by AnonOps field agents:

• An agent provocateur that has infiltrated a group may accuse authentic members of that group of being provocateurs.
• Cyberbullies and suicide trolls may justify their attacks by accusing the victim of being cyberbullies or suicide trolls.
• People engaged in doxxing or swatting may justify those attacks by claiming their victims were doing the same thing.
• A catfish agent may sow doubt in the minds of their victim, by accusing the victim's friends of being catfishers or gold diggers.
• Informants that have infiltrated a group may divert suspicion by accusing other people of being informants.
• A pedophile may accuse threats or investigators of being pedophiles themselves, or even worm their way into things like pedo hunting ops.

These are just some examples, and is by no means an exhaustive list. In every case, the pattern is the same: Deflection away from one's own actions by the use of a scapegoat.

This is a very common tactic used by gatekeepers and agent provocateurs. Sometimes they will attack to provoke the victim into complaining. The attacker will then use the complaint as “proof” that the victim is the one bullying the attacker. It is a form of gaslighting. Sometimes they may escalate this charade far enough to recruit flying monkeys to continue the attack for them.

“Accuse the other side of that of which you are guilty” is a quote commonly misattributed to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels, who was known to use this technique to great effect. The quote itself appears to be a rewording of a statement by Goebbels from a 1934 Nurenberg rally: “The cleverest trick used in propaganda against Germany during the war was to accuse Germany of what our enemies themselves were doing.” Indeed, the British financial elite are also notorious for using this same trick in their own propaganda. This famous misquote provides a solid example of how much chaos, confusion & distrust can arise on a global scale when two opposing world powers deploy mirroring tactics against each other.

Mirroring is commonly used in genocides, as a way of hypnotizing the population into supporting mass acts of terror and violence. It was notoriously used to great effect during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide by the Hutus against the Tutsis, and is still used to this day in Turkey to justify the genocide of the Armenians.

In oligarchical two-party political systems, mirroring is oftentimes deliberately used on both sides to keep the general public running in circles and subservient to the powers that be. A great example here is in the United States, where the Democrats and Republicans (both funded by the same Wall Street oligarchs) mirror each other on a regular basis as a means of stifling independent or third-party dissent. The news media and astroturf groups that serve these parties will readily parrot these talking points as well (to the point of even accusing each other of mirroring!) further amplifying the confusion that this tactic is designed to foster.
