There is nothing new under the sun.

The Insurgency Wiki was a public MediaWiki install used by the /i/nsurgency, for collectively keeping track of operations intelligence and dox, and for providing a means to train & onboard untrained recruits for Anon's field operations. For several years, it was the de-facto knowledge base of the /i/nsurgency.

After going through several iterations, the liability and stress of keeping it online became too much for any one Anon to bear, and it went offline for good. It came back briefly under new stewardship at one point, but that iteration too eventually fell.

All that is left are these backups of the original 2006-2011 install, and this Institute, which was built with them:

• Option 1: OVA format virtual machine image of most recent 2011 IW backup, compiled by Deviance in May 2024 on a Debian image matching the original server environment. Includes phpMyAdmin. See following image for access details:

• Option 2: XML export from the original install made in 2011, but requires importation into an existing MediaWiki install. Since this is a backup from a 13 year old version of MediaWiki, it does not like being imported into newer versions. The OVA image above was compiled to get around this problem, but you are welcome to play with this as well.
• Option 3: Live site snapshot from late 2011, on web.archive.org, if you don't want to fuck around getting a backup running.
  • Note: Not all pages are archived on that snapshot, and you may have to jump around 2010-2011 to find everything.
  • Further Note: Some pages did not make it to web.archive.org at all, and will still need to be retrieved from the VM anyways.
