Mirroring
Accusation in a Mirror, also known as Mirroring, is a propaganda tactic in which one falsely attributes one's own motives and/or intentions to one's adversaries.
“Accuse the other side of that of which you are guilty” is a quote commonly misattributed to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels, who was known to use this technique to great effect. The quote itself appears to be a rewording of a statement by Goebbels from a 1934 Nurenberg rally: “The cleverest trick used in propaganda against Germany during the war was to accuse Germany of what our enemies themselves were doing.” Indeed, the British financial elite are also notorious for using this same trick in their own propaganda. This notorious misquote provides a solid example of how much confusion and distrust can arise on a global scale when two world powers deploy mirroring tactics against each other.
